Prices of sugar, pulses continue to show decline across the country

In the week ending 17.3.2010, prices of sugar and pulses have declined in most of the centres where prices are monitored by the Department of Consumer Affairs. Prices of other commodities have generally remained steady at most of the reporting centres.

According to data collected by the Department of Consumer Affairs, sugar prices have declined at 12 centres including Delhi, Shimla, Raipur and Patna. .

Gram dal prices have remained steady at all the reporting centres and declined at Shimla and increased at only one centre i.e. Thiruvananthapuram. .

Tur dal prices have come down at Delhi, Shimla and Thiruvananthapuram and have remained steady at other centres except for an increase at Mumbai and Hyderabad.

Urad and Moong dal prices have declined at Hyderabad and remained steady at all the reporting centers except for an increase at Delhi and Mumbai.

Masoor dal prices have decreased at Delhi, Raipur and Thiruvananthapuram and remained steady at all the reporting centres. An increase has been reported at Hyderabad.

Potato prices have remained steady at all the reporting centres and decreased at Thiruvananthapuram.

Onion prices have decreased at 10 centres including Delhi, Shimla, Mumbai, Patna and Thiruvananthapuram.

Wheat, edible oils and vanaspati prices have remained steady at most of the reporting centres.

At Delhi, retail prices of tur dal, urad dal, masoor dal, sugar, mustard oil, vanaspati and onion have decreased, while rice, wheat, atta, gram dal, milk, groundnut oil, and salt prices remained steady over one week. Prices of moong dal and potato registered slight increase.
