Merit-cum-means Scholarship scheme of the Ministry of Minority Affairs is meant for the students belonging to the Minority communities studying in technical and professional courses. This scheme was launched in 2007-08 and cumulatively 1,20,491 scholarships have been awarded till 31st March 2011.
During 2010-11, a total of 41,056 scholarships have been awarded. Of these 19,518 scholarships were fresh and 21,538 were renewals involving an amount of Rs.108.75 crore. Of these, 34.29% went to female students. The target fixed for fresh scholarships during 2010-11 was 20,000.
